For 21,000 of Vermont’s children, being hungry is a way of life, adversely affecting their health, growth and ability to learn in school. For many years, VSECU has supported food banks and programs that fight hunger in Vermont, including a recent donation of $2,000 to the Vermont Campaign to End Childhood Hunger (VTCECH).

“Sadly, hunger in Vermont is a continuing problem. VSECU has been a long-time contributor to programs that work to solve this problem,” said Steven D. Post, VSECU’s chief executive officer, “and we’re proud to continue that tradition with this contribution. We are pleased to be able to support the unique and innovative programs of the Vermont Campaign to End Childhood Hunger. We hope that more children can access the proper nutrition they need to grow and thrive.”

Since 1993, VTCECH has developed programs and advocated policies to alleviate hunger and promote good nutrition for young Vermonters. The non-profit organization implements federal child nutrition programs as well as develops state programs to provide healthy foods in the schools, child care centers and summer youth programs. In addition, VTCECH’s Cooking for Life provides free cooking, nutrition and budgeting classes to low-income parents and teens.

“We are so grateful for VSECU’s gift,” said Robert Dostis, executive director of the Vermont Campaign to End Childhood Hunger. “With their support, we can engage with communities all over the state to ensure access to enough nutritious food for every child, every day.”
