We're Now Faster and More Accessible
In addition to some new features, clarity of design, and user-centered improvements we've just added to this website, the new VSECU website is faster to browse and more accessible to members.
Faster Is Better For Web Browsing
Anyone who lives in rural Vermont knows how frustrating it can be to access the Internet with a dial-up account and view websites that were created by and for companies with broadband Internet access. Websites seem to take forever to appear, which can be incredibly frustrating.
The new VSECU site is exceptionally fast to view, even with a dial-up modem. We have trimmed the load time from an average of what was 15 seconds for the old VSECU "Members' Area" home page, to just five seconds for the new home page. Beyond our new home page, other pages in the site should load in 3-4 seconds on an average dial-up modem.
Our goal is to make you think you're using a broadband Internet connection when you're visiting VSECU.com, no matter how you access the Internet.
Accessibility Matters
A second goal when redesigning VSECU.com was to make the site accessible to the widest audience possible.
In addition to improvements for VSECU's traditional website viewers, the new site also includes extensive support for the visually impaired (who access the Internet with screen readers) and others using alternative methods to browse VSECU.com (e.g., PDAs).
