Fraud Alert --> Phishers Posing As 'America's Credit Union'
The Credit Union National Association (CUNA) is once again warning credit unions and credit union members of a recent phishing scam for personal information.
The latest fraudulent email, sent to a member of Carolina Collegiate FCU, purported to be from "security@creditunion.coop" and posed as a security alert for the credit union.
Another message posed as the "F.C.U. Security Department" at the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). Both scams utilize the Credit Union System's "America's Credit
Unions" logo to make the phishing attempt look authentic. They also don't mention a credit union by name, other than simply "Credit Union".
See more about this phishing scam on the CUNA website.
Reminder:
The VSECU, CUNA and NCUA will never send you an email requesting or soliciting personal confidential information. We urge you not to open the link in the message
of any phishing attempt. Instead, delete the message.
But if you responded to such an email and provided any confidential account information, please notify us immediately of the scheme.
If you ever question the reliability of an unsolicited email please call us directly.
