No Phishing Allowed!

It's called phishing, but you won't want to get caught up in the net of this con game. Behind deceptive emails and bogus websites, phishers typically appear to be from a legitimate company. Their messages reqest that you update billing records or verify information, with a link directing you to a "look-alike" website.

See Three Steps: Stop, Look & Call... to avoid being hooked by phishing.

On the fraudulent website, you're asked to enter personal information, such as credit card numbers, social security number, mother's maiden name, passwords, etc. Now the phisher has captured the information needed to spend your money!

Most phishers have become so sophisticated that their fake websites look exactly like the legitimate company's site, down to smallest detail of the layout and logos.

To be safe, NEVER click on a link within an email message from from a company or institution requesting that you update or confirm personal information. (Sometimes those links don't even send you to a website, they instead function to install spyware to your computer.)

Instead, phone the company to see if they are truly updating their records... if not, you'll be making them aware that a phisher is out there seeking to defraud consumers like yourself.
