What is the VHeat program
The cost of oil and gas has soared over recent years, and VSECU wants to help you keep your home or business heating fuel costs as affordable as possible. We have developed a new home heating program called VHeat so that you can purchase heating fuel at a fixed price. Just as pooling our resources at VSECU makes financial services more affordable, working together as a group can save you money on heating oil and propane gas.
Members who choose to participate in VHeat can save even more through our automatic payment program, the VHeat Clearing Account and VHeat Credit Line. The Clearing Account and Credit Line are required for participation in the VHeat program because it makes paying for fuel easy and convenient. Even more important, the automatic payment program will further ensure your fuel deliveries will be made without interruption, so that you won’t be left in the cold.
Members can make deposits to the Clearing Account at any time. You may choose to put the entire payment for your fuel costs into the Clearing Account at the beginning of the heating season or make monthly deposits. Fuel dealers automatically debit the account after each fuel delivery. Not only is this an easy, convenient way to pay, it saves on the cost of checks, envelopes and stamps! Plus, VSECU pays dividends on the funds in your VHeat Clearing Account!
In the event that there are not enough funds in your VHeat Clearing Account to cover your fuel payment, funds will be automatically drawn from your VHeat Credit Line and deposited into your Clearing Account. The Credit Line will help you maintain timely payments for your fuel and continued fuel delivery service. You may pay the loan off in full or make monthly payments. The VHeat Credit Line is a loan, and participation is contingent upon approval.
In order to keep your furnace operating efficiently and safely, you should make sure it is cleaned and maintained regularly. You may finance furnace cleaning and repairs through the VHeat Credit Line. Be sure to ask a Member Service Consultant for details.
When is the program available
We recommend that you contact us during the spring for program updates. The program starts when VSECU locks in pricing and the program ends on May 31 of each year.
Program details
- Limited supply of heating fuel is available, so contact us about joining the VHeat program early!
- Participation is on a first-come, first-serve basis
- You must renew your VHeat contract with VSECU every year
- Fixed pricing is only available during the program year
- Your home or business must be located in the delivery area of VHeat’s fuel dealers
- Fuel Dealers require automatic fuel delivery
- There is a cost to participate: Dues to join the VHeat program are based on the number of gallons ordered, with a $25.00 minimum
- Dues are non-refundable
- This not a “pre-buy” or “pre-pay” agreement – billing occurs after each delivery
- Payment will automatically be deducted from your VHeat Clearing Account which will be linked to your VHeat Credit Line
