Stronger Together

WE’RE BUILDING SOMETHING NEW

We have completed various system integrations to bring you a better banking experience with the best products, services, and technologies at our disposal.

If you are a member, you received a packet in the mail with details about these changes. If you have misplaced your guide, you can download it here.

Quick Facts

The most important thing for you to know is that you can have confidence your information is safe, secure, and accurate. Here are a few reminders of changes that are going into effect as we finalize our systems integration.

  • ROUTING NUMBER: We have a new routing number as of November 6, 2023: #211691127. Our previous routing number will continue to work for the foreseeable future, so nothing bad will happen if you don’t use the new number, but we strongly recommend that you update direct deposit, ACH, and recurring transactions with the new routing number to ensure the long-term functionality of your accounts. Your checks will continue to work, so you do not need to worry about ordering new checks right away. When you reorder checks, they will arrive with our new routing number (and the New England Federal Credit Union logo), which will require you to update the routing number with other service providers.
  • LOAN PAYMENTS: Make loan payments to New England Federal Credit Union (NEFCU) at 141 Harvest Lane, PO Box 527; Williston, VT 05495-0527. For other inquiries and communications, you can continue to send mail to VSECU, a division of New England Federal Credit Union; PO Box 67; Montpelier, VT 05601.
  • SHARED BRANCHING: Our branches will no longer accept transactions from other credit union accounts. However, we are still a member of the CO-OP Shared Branch Network, so you can continue to conduct VSECU transactions at other credit union branches within the network. If you are attempting to conduct a shared branch transaction at another credit union and they are unable to find VSECU, ask them to search for “New England FCU.”

New name and brand identity

Now that VSECU and NEFCU are united as one credit union, we have prioritized the development of a name and brand identity that reflects the strengths and legacies of both organizations. We are excited to bring the most valued characteristics, traits, and offerings to light as we clarify the new look and feel for our future.

This will take time and consideration. We expect this process to be completed later in 2024. Until then, we will continue to operate as VSECU, a division of New England Federal Credit Union. During this time, you may receive mail or email communications or be directed to web pages or online applications that include both the VSECU and NEFCU logos or just the NEFCU logo. Once we have a new identity, the new name will replace both VSECU and NEFCU. Until then, we appreciate your patience and understanding.

FAQs

We finished integrating existing and new systems on Monday, November 6, 2023.

Our systems integration gives you access to a more robust selection of products and services, and a larger number of branches around the state. Click here to view our complete guide of changes and benefits after our systems integration.

VSECU and NEFCU (New England Federal Credit Union) merged on January 1, 2023. We have worked all year to build on our partnership and bring you the best of what each credit union offers.

We will continue to operate under our respective brand names—NEFCU and VSECU (a division of NEFCU)—until a new name is identified and created for the combined credit union, likely in 2024.

Yes, the routing number changed to #211691127. We recommend that you use the new routing number from now on and change the routing number for any of your scheduled transactions.

However, nothing bad will happen if you don’t do anything. The old routing number will continue to work for the foreseeable future so your scheduled transactions and checks will still go through. When you reorder checks, they will have the new routing number. If, at some point, we discontinue the old routing number, you will have to update any transactions that utilize it.

No, your account number(s) and member number stayed the same.

Nothing about these processes is changing. We recommend for the long-term functionality of your accounts that you contact your service providers and update your automated transactions with the new routing number. However, even if you don’t do anything for now, your transactions will continue to be made as scheduled for the foreseeable future.

Our branches will no longer accept transactions from other credit union accounts. However, we are still a member of the CO-OP Shared Branch Network, so you can continue to conduct VSECU transactions at other credit union branches within the network. If you have grown accustomed to coming to VSECU to make Shared Branch transactions on other credit union accounts, you will have to find another Shared Branch to conduct those transactions.

No! You’ll notice a new, temporary, combined logo (until we have a new name, likely later in 2024) and a couple of new features, but your account access and overall Digital Banking experience will remain the same both online and in the mobile app. Ensure you are running the latest version of our mobile app by visiting the App Store or Google Play Store.

Membership

Your accounts have not been combined, meaning you have the same number of accounts as you did between NEFCU and VSECU. If you were a member of both credit unions, you kept your VSECU member number.

Current members are automatically members of the combined credit union. Non-members can join the credit union by meeting membership eligibility criteria.

We have created a non-transaction Membership Share account for all members. The account exists solely for the purpose of holding your $5 share in our financial cooperative, which is required by New England Federal Credit Union (NEFCU) Bylaws. You will not be able to make transactions with this account and will not receive a statement for the account. As an existing member, you don’t need to do anything. The account has been created for you.

Loan Payments

Our loan payment address has changed to:

New England Federal Credit Union (NEFCU)
141 Harvest Lane, PO Box 527
Williston, VT 05495-0527.

For other inquiries and communications, you can continue to send mail to VSECU, a division of New England Federal Credit Union; PO Box 67; Montpelier, VT 05601.

Accounts and Services

As of November 6, 2023, you can transact freely between your VSECU and NEFCU accounts.

Funds will continue to be covered by NCUA up to $250,000. Federal insurance may cover more than this amount if your accounts are set up correctly. If you are not sure whether your accounts are set up correctly, speak to a member service consultant.

Overdraft from Savings is now called Overdraft Transfer. You can attach various deposit accounts or any line of credit to each checking account to make overdraft transfers. You will get four free transfers per month, not including transfers from a line of credit.

Yes, it has simply been renamed Courtesy Pay. Otherwise, the service remains the same.

Deposit Accounts

Yes, you can keep using your checks and order checks as you need them. The new routing number will not be reflected on your existing checks, but they will still clear.

When you order new checks, the new routing number and the New England Federal Credit Union logo will be included on each check.

You’ll notice a few changes with our deposit accounts, including new account names, more frequent compounding of dividends for Business Savings accounts, and a new round-up deposit service called ChangeSaver that you can enroll in. In addition, checking accounts will no longer earn dividends.

Cards: Credit & Debit

No! You can continue to use your VERMONT Platinum or Business Visa® credit card as you always have.

No! Your card should continue to work, though there may be some limitations. We recommend you plan accordingly and have other payment resources available during this time. If you are experiencing issues with your debit card, please get in touch and we will assist you in replacing your current debit card.

Branches and ATMs

Starting November 6, 2023, you will be able to conduct transactions at any of our VSECU and NEFCU branches.

No! As of November 6, 2023, you will have additional free access to NEFCU ATMs around the state.
