VGives - VSECU Community Giving Policy

VSECU is dedicated to supporting the communities where our members reside and work around the state.  We work diligently to ensure that our giving is responsive proportionately to the geographic areas we serve. 

Although we cannot support every request submitted to VSECU, we do our best to be fair and equitable, demonstrating our commitment to allocating funds around the state to support diverse needs.

Persons or organizations seeking funding from VGives must submit a formal written request. The contribution must be of a tax-deductible nature directed towards a civic, educational, environmental, health, low-income or arts-related purpose.  Preference may be given to those organizations requesting funds whose environmental goals, activities, and ethics are consistent with the environmental mission statement adopted by VSECU.

GENERAL CONTRIBUTIONS

Each year VSECU allocates funds for the support of community activities and charitable causes. The CEO, the Community Contributions Committee, and the Board of Directors, acting together or independently, may allocate these funds subject to specific guidelines. Our donations vary from small amounts of $50 to larger donations of several thousand dollars.

All contributions must be intended to assist the recipient in meeting obligations for the current fiscal year only and must be for a non-political, non-sectarian purpose.

Requests are reviewed during the calendar year on a first come, first serve basis. 

CAPITAL CONTRIBUTIONS

Each year, the VSECU Board of Directors allocates a sum of money to support capital fundraising campaigns within Vermont. 

Requests for capital contributions are evaluated semi-annually in April and October by the Community Contributions Committee.  If the request is approved by the committee, it is presented to the VSECU Board for final consideration.

Contributions must be for a non-political, non-sectarian purpose and may support multi-year donations; however, total annual donations plus previously committed installments will not exceed the budgeted amount.
