VSECU granted $5000 to sponsor ANEW Place’s Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament Fundraiser, which provided an opportunity for the community to gather around a fun and friendly competition that helped to raise funds for the homeless center’s four-phase program.
ANEW Place has expanded its programming beyond temporary relief to now foster lifelong change in all of the homeless persons that they serve and help them to successfully reintegrate back into the community. Through a holistic, person-centered approach, ANEW Place works to address the underlying causes of each person’s homelessness, helping individuals to gain the skills needed for self-sufficiency. As the guests advance through the four phases of ANEW’s program, they receive shelter to move from survival mode to safety, holistic support and life-skill development to build a foundation with the tools to succeed, transitional housing with a rental buffer fund to empower self-sufficiency, and two-year permanent supportive housing for long-term stability. Through the transformation of one person at a time, ANEW Place is creating systemic change within our community.
“We are so grateful for VSECU’s generous support of our programs at ANEW!” says Valerie Brosseau, executive director of ANEW Place. “As an organization funded 100% by donations, every dollar makes a difference in the lives of homeless adults who need help and support to change their lives around. VSECU’s gracious contribution makes a tangible impact to bring long-term solutions for vulnerable members of our community.”
