Board of Directors Announced


At one of the more unique Annual Meetings held by VSECU, voting has concluded to fill the four vacancies on the Board of Directors.

The evening started with a cocktail hour in which members were invited to mingle with representatives from the five finalists in the We Care 2 program. Therapy Dogs of Vermont brought Cora, one of their service dogs, to meet VSECU members and Southern Vermont Natural History Museum brought Sophia, a beautiful kestrel.

Prior to the start of the Annual Meeting a presentation by guest speaker Peter M. Weinbaum, JD, offered insight on how best to optimize social security retirement benefits. The presentation offered information for those already receiving benefits as well as those that were just beginning to think about how social security benefits would be utilized as part of their retirement planning.

The 67th Annual Meeting included many announcements for change. Jerry Diamond, Chair of the Board, introduced Robert Miller, successor CEO, and reflected on his time with current CEO Steve Post. Diamond also announced that he would remain on the Board of Directors however would be stepping down as Chair. Post talked about his years of service at VSECU, stating “I’m not sure if the most difficult Annual Meeting was my first, or this one as my last.” He also commented on the optimistic future of VSECU stating “the opportunities ahead of VSECU are greater than all the opportunities we’ve already taken advantage of.” New CEO Robert Miller introduced himself to the membership, acknowledging the successes of the credit union and stated: “It’s not easy to make a great organization better, but I’ll promise this today, I’m up for the task.”

Chair of the VSECU Community Contributions Committee, Kate Paine, presented the We Care 2 finalists with the member elected donations. Therapy Dogs of Vermont and NCSS Youth In Transition were each awarded $10,000 and The Rutland Community Cupboard, Southern Vermont Natural History Museum and Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports all received $1,000 donations. Paine also announced that she had not sought reelection to the VSECU Board of Directors and this would be her last event as a Board member.

With all ballots casts by the close of the meeting the results are as follows. There was a single ballot cast for Richard Cron as he was the one candidate to fill the sole vacancy on the Credit Committee. The candidates selected for the four vacancies on the Board of Directors were:

The participation prize this year was a $750 gift certificate to Jay Peak Resort. Every member who voted was entered to win the random prize drawing. This year’s winner is from Springfield, Vermont and has chosen to remain anonymous.
