Celebrate Cooperatives and International Credit Union Day with VSECU at any of our branch locations on October 18, 2012.
10. October is Co-op Month
Vermont has several cooperatives ranging in the types of services and member benefits they provide. Including food, electric, financial, dairy and even ski resorts; the cooperative spirit runs deep in Vermont. October is the nationally recognized month of celebration for co-ops and a great time to familiarize yourself with a Vermont cooperative if you haven’t already.
VSECU offers financial services to our cooperative member owners. Profits are returned to our members in the form of higher deposit rates, lower loan rates and lower fees.
18. The 18th is International Credit Union Day
The credit union motto is “Not for profit, not for charity, but for service” summarized, “people helping people.” Celebrate your VSECU credit union membership on International Credit Union Day, October 18 at any of our branch locations. This year’s theme is Members Matter Most and we’re celebrating with samples of cheese provided by one of Vermont’s finest cooperatives Cabot Creamery, and pick up 2 for 1 lift ticket coupons while entering to win a seasons pass at Mad River Glen, another one of Vermont’s great cooperatives.
VSECU is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all Vermonters and is proud to be your banking alternative.Thank you for being a member!
12. 2012 is the International Year of Cooperatives
A cooperative, by definition, is an autonomous association of persons who voluntarily cooperate for their mutual social, economic, and cultural benefit. Cooperatives are owned and managed by the people that use its services and/or by the employees of the cooperative or by people who live there – in the instance of a housing cooperative. There are 7 cooperative principals which each cooperative, regardless of service or ownership, have adopted. 2012 is the International Year of Cooperatives.
VSECU is a consumer cooperative, owned and managed by the members that use our services.
