The heARTs of Rutland community street art project began as a way for area artists to bring attention to the people, places and businesses in Rutland and the surrounding region. After Hurricane Irene, the project evolved into a showcase of how the community comes together year after year. From this disaster, an amazing thing happened: Vermont became one community helping others in need.
VSECU sponsored a heART decorated by artist Jodie Stephenson called Autumn’s Sanctuary (pictured in the photograph along with Rutland branch manager, Steve Pelletier). If you would like to see the heART on display before the auction, it’s located at the Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce Visitor’s Center at the intersection of South Main Street and Route 7 South.
Talented area artists painted and embellished over-sized hearts that are currently on display around Rutland until the live auction at 6:30 PM on Friday, November 2nd at the Paramount Theatre (30 Center Street, Rutland) with a 5:30 PM preview.
This project benefits Rutland and the region with profits distributed to victims of disaster in the Rutland Region and children’s art education. For more information about the auction or project, visit www.theHeartsofRutland.com.
