Jenna’s Promise is a nonprofit that aims to work with getting people into recovery, stay in recovery, and become a part of the community again. It currently owns a community center that will house meetings and events for everyone in Lamoille. They also own a coffee shop that will be run by those in recovery so they can create a resume, learn basic skills, and work with the community to remove the stigma of addiction. The foundation will also give scholarships to those who need money to stay in recovery, either for inpatient treatment or sober living. The four people helped so far is through this scholarship. In the future they will buy houses by the community center to put sober living in place. They also plan to work with the local sheriff to help root out those selling drugs to the community.
The We Care 2 money would be used to help give more Vermonters scholarships to stay in recovery and sober housing. It would also go towards getting the coffee shop started to be able to get those in recovery now back on their feet. It is important to get those in recovery into the working world again because it gives confidence, self-esteem, a resume for their future, and motivation to stay in recovery. It also helps reduce relapsing.
