Join the National Youth Saving Challenge™ During April

Teaching our young people to save is vital to their future financial health. VSECU hopes to encourage our young Vermonters to save by joining the National Youth Saving Challenge during the month of April. It is held in conjunction with National Credit Union Youth Week and sponsored by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA).

The National Youth Saving Challenge is open to all youth under 18 who visit a participating credit union, such as VSECU, during April. While youth are encouraged to make a deposit at the credit union, no deposit is required to enter.1 Limit one entry per person for the National Saving Challenge.

On May 16, 2012, CUNA will randomly select and give $100 awards to 10 participating credit unions. Each of these 10 credit unions will then randomly select a winner from its entrants. The odds of winning will depend on the number of entrants. A list of the winners will be posted on the CUNA website on or after May 18, 2012. This contest is void where prohibited.

In conjunction with the National Youth Saving Challenge, VSECU will hold our own prize drawing for three prizes. Each prize will be a $100 cash gift to save and a $50 gift certificate/card of the child’s choice (local retailer, iTunes, Toys R Us, etc.).

Each time a deposit is made into a savings or certificate account, your child will automatically be entered into the VSECU drawing. Unlike the National Youth Saving Challenge, your child will be entered into the drawing as many times as deposits are made.

Like the national challenge, VSECU encourages youth to make a deposit at the credit union, but no deposit or VSECU membership is required to enter.1 VSECU will randomly select three entries to receive prizes by May 16, 2012, and will notify prize recipients.

If VSECU is a credit union selected by CUNA in the National Youth Saving Challenge in its drawing for a $100 prize, the winner from VSECU will be selected in a separate drawing of all entries—only one entry per person will be allowed in this drawing for the CUNA prize.

We hope you will join VSECU and encourage your child to save—beginning today!

1 If your child is not a VSECU member or does not wish to make a deposit to enter the drawing, your child is still eligible to enter, please send in a postcard with the following information: Child’s name, parent/guardian’s name, mailing address and daytime phone number. Postcards may be submitted at a VSECU branch location or mailed to: VSECU Youth Drawing, Business Development, P.O. Box 67, Montpelier, VT 05601-0067. All entries must be received by 5:00 p.m. on April 30, 2012.
