Your Child Could Win $100 to Boost Savings!

Mark your calendar: Youth Week is April 21st – 27th.

Each year VSECU celebrates Youth Week in an effort to engage young members in understanding an essential component of personal finances, saving. It’s important to discuss money matters with your children at a young age and we’re making it easier to start that conversation with events held in your local branch.

During the month of April, every youth member (age 17 and under) that makes a deposit into their Share Savings Account will be entered into a drawing to win one of three $100 prizes! The $100 will be deposited into the winners’ savings accounts on or before May 10th. If your children don’t already have accounts, opening a Share Savings Account at VSECU is easy and can help younger members better understand money management. Learning the importance of saving at an early age helps our young members avoid financial challenges later on in life. Visit our Share Savings Account page to learn more and become a member today!

The theme for the 2013 National Credit Union Youth week is a Savings Sleuth – Solve the Mystery! In celebration of this year’s theme, we’ve invited Liberty Mutual Insurance representatives to be on-site at each branch on April 24 from 10 AM-2 PM. They will be distributing 100 free Child ID Fingerprinting Kits on a first come, first served basis. The kit includes an ink strip and fingerprinting chart, as well as DNA collection swabs and a DNA storage envelope.

The brochure that’s included also provides child safety tips, a growth chart, personal information record and a photo ID section. Keep the kit in a safe place and if your children are ever lost you can provide the authorities with this information.

Police and Fire personnel will also be at some of our branches on Wednesday, April 24th as part of the celebration. Below is the schedule of those personnel (times may change if there is an emergency where they need to perform their duties):

  • Berlin: police personnel and vehicle from 10 AM-11 AM
  • Montpelier: police personnel and vehicle, sometime between 10 AM-2 PM
  • Brattleboro: fire personnel and truck from 11 AM-12 PM

Join us this year as we celebrate National Credit Union Youth Week and bring your children into a VSECU branch anytime during the month of April to show them how they can benefit from saving at their credit union.
