Fuel Your Neighbors

Powering an Initiative to Make Winter More Hospitable

As anyone who has lived through a Vermont winter knows, they can be long, cold, and, especially, expensive. The cost of heating a home alone can easily double the cost of home ownership through the winter months, and for many Vermonters who are already stretched thin, this extra cost can be enough to keep ends from meeting. That’s where Fuel Your Neighbors comes in. Visit Fuel Your Neighbor or Donate Now.

Who it Helps:

Children and Seniors are at the greatest risk in winter, and are the primary recipients of these efforts. While 20% of children don’t have enough food to eat, 40% of people requiring emergency heating assistance are retired seniors. By focusing on the young and young-at-heart, VSECU and Fuel Your Neighbors are maximizing impact and helping create a better Vermont. Learn More

How it Works:

Donations made by generous Vermonters are directed to those who need help covering the costs of home heating and/or food. Giving money is easy with Fuel Your Neighbors, where you can make a one-time donation or start a fundraising campaign. Financial gifts of all sizes make a difference for Vermonters in need of fuel for their home or their body. Donate Now

About the Partnership:

Fuel Your Neighbors was launched by VSECU and Capstone Community Action, with generous support from The Point FM. Together we were able to exceed the program’s goal for its initial year winter. The initial success of the program attracted additional sponsors including Ren Head Baking Co., Sovernet Communications, Leone, Mcdonnell & Roberts, Symquest, Hickok and Boardman, and The Alchemist.
