How to apply

Follow these steps to get started.

Determine eligibility

Qualified projects and purchases include weatherization, cold climate heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, efficient wood heating stoves and systems, appliances, and more.

For your project to be eligible:

  • The building must be a residential owner-occupied 1-4 family unit and physically located in Vermont.
  • Your contractor must be approved by Efficiency Vermont.

Please note: Do-it-yourself (DIY) projects are not eligible for the Home Energy Loan. The Energy Improvement Loan is a great option for ineligible projects and for DIYers who want to finance their energy improvements.
